Expert Statement – American Heart Association Recommend ‘Sit Less, Move More’

A key finding of the report was that evidence is accumulating that prolonged sitting could be a risk factor for heart disease, diabetes, and a shorter life span, even if an individual also takes part in regular physical activity. The report authors therefore suggested:

Given the current state of the science on sedentary behavior and in the absence of sufficient data to recommend quantitative guidelines, it is appropriate to promote the advisory, “Sit less, move more.”
